Become A Member
Any person who desires membership at Abilene may request membership during any worship service in which an invitation is offered.
Upon a person’s application for membership, completion of a Discover Abilene membership class, and affirmation of the church’s membership agreement, a candidate may be admitted to membership through:
- Public confession of Jesus Christ as Lord followed by baptism by immersion.
- Transfer of a letter from a like-minded Southern Baptist Church.
- Your public statement of faith (in Jesus Christ) and testimony of baptism by immersion that followed your confession.
- Baptism by immersion. This is for anyone who has previously accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord, but was not baptized by immersion following their confession.

If you’ve recently applied for church membership or if you’re just curious, we invite you to sign up Discover Abilene! This class, which is a prerequisite for church membership, will cover our beliefs and values, how our church is structured, what it means to be a member, and opportunities to connect.
