Abilene Kidz
Our mission is to engage the hearts of birth—5th grade children so that they may grow to know Jesus and, once they know Him, continue to grow in Him.
Abilene Loves Kidz!
We value providing a safe and clean environment for your children to have fun and learn more about Jesus!
At Abilene we:
- Utilize a child check-in system with a photo ID*
- Require background checks for our Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers
- Monitor preschool & elementary classrooms with security cameras
- Keep our facilities clean and sanitized
* We encourage first-time guests to arrive a few minutes early so we can check your family in using our Insync system. Each child will wear a name tag, and you will receive a voucher with your picture and your child’s picture. You must have this voucher when you return to pick up your child.
Events
Sunday School
We believe Sunday School (our small groups) is the best hour of a child’s week! We have Preschool classes for babies – K4 and Elementary classes for K5 – 5th grade.
Sunday School Schedule:
• Martinez Campus – 9:45 AM
• West Campus (Harlem Middle School) – 11:00 AM
Leaders will teach your child in a small group every Sunday morning. They will share truths from God’s Word and how they can apply them to their lives through Bible lessons, crafts, games, videos, Bible drills, and songs.
We use the Gospel Light curriculum for preschoolers and the Explore the Bible curriculum for elementary kidz.
Kidz Worship
Kidz Worship (also referred to as “Children’s Church”) takes place at the same time as our worship gatherings for adults.
Sunday Morning Worship Schedule:
• Martinez Campus – 8:30 & 11:00 AM
• West Campus (Harlem Middle School) – 9:45 AM
Using the GO! Curriculum, we offer exciting large group time for our K5-3rd grade kidz with high energy worship songs, skits, Bible lessons, videos, and engaging games.

4th & 5th Grade Ministry
Our Bridge Ministry for 4th & 5th grade students instills basic Biblical principles that help students deal with real world problems.
This Preteen Ministry serves as a bridge between our Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry, continuing to grow the preteens in their Christian walk.
This ministry meets at both the Martinez Campus and the West Campus on Wednesday nights as well as Sunday mornings for Sunday School small groups.
Preschool Worship
Preschool Worship (also referred to as “Children’s Church”) takes place at the same time as our worship gatherings for adults.
Sunday Morning Worship Schedule:
• Martinez Campus – 8:30 & 11:00 AM
• West Campus (Harlem Middle School) – 9:45 AM
Using the Gospel Light curriculum, we believe preschoolers learn through repetition. We spend time in the classroom teaching the same Bible lesson from the Sunday School hour, and then for 1’s through K4, the rest of the time is spent in a large group setting. This time includes fun worship songs with motions, instrument play, Bible lessons, verse memory, and games.
Babies and crawlers stay in their classrooms and are loved and cared for by leaders on a monthly rotating basis. They learn about Jesus through play, cuddle time, music, and books.
Wednesday Evenings
During the school year, kidz in K3 – 3rd grade have a blast on Wednesday nights at Missions & Memory! This is a fun and creative time where kidz learn how to tell others about Jesus and hide scripture in their hearts through missions.
Kidz in 4th & 5th grade gather at The Bridge for worship and Bible study!
Wednesday Evening Schedule:
• Martinez Campus – 6:15 PM
• West Campus (Harlem Middle School) – 6:30 PM
Special Needs
At Abilene, we affectionately refer to our Special Needs Ministry as “The Joy Club”! Special needs individuals, preschool age and up, are welcome in Joy Club, a division of our Sunday School ministry.
We have three classes available for children and adults at the Martinez Campus during the 9:45 AM Sunday School hour.
We also offer care during the 11:00 AM worship service for preschool through elementary-age children on the 1st, 4th, and 5th Sunday of the month. We aim to partner with parents and provide their children with a safe and loving environment as they grow to know Jesus.
